Anguish Brings Us Together (Ondoy Tragedy)

Once more the forces of nature, the vagueness of science, and the absurdity of existence had taken its toll upon our land. Once again, suffering and death have dawned upon us. There is a great sorrow in all of us. This is nothing new. This happens every time in our streets, our cities, our homes. There is a reason to it: human ignorance, carelessness and complacency.

While our hearts are filled with grief, let us reach out in any way we can to help those who are helpless and in need. We are one nation and one consciousness. There is no person or God causing this tragedy except the power of nature itself in complete randomness. Now is the time to pray for recovery, to help and to heal and to realize that there is no creed, ideology, or politics that separate us: we are one.

No matter when or where a calamity may strike, let us know without any doubt, that existence continues, that life will go on, with us or without us. Let us come to enjoy every moment we have and live that moment fully, honestly, love and in certainty. That is all we must do; that is our only obligation to one another. Live this moment now and be the best we can be, in whatever we do, as if it is our last moment.

May our gentleness dawn upon all minds still filled with suffering and confusion. May those who suffered soon find peace and joy.
